John Detore serves as Head of Asset Management for Olive Tree, overseeing the performance and strategy of the firm’s existing multifamily portfolio while supporting growth through acquisitions. John has over 20 years of experienced leadership in asset management, financial operations, and portfolio strategy across both market-rate and affordable housing. Prior to joining Olive Tree, John was Vice President of Asset Management for The Loring Group, where he directed all asset management and operational functions for a diversified multifamily, mixed-use, and retail portfolio. During his tenure, he helped expand the firm’s investor base, growing assets under management (AUM) from $300 million to nearly $1 billion, and spearheaded portfolio-wide modernization initiatives that drove revenue growth and operational efficiency. Previously, he served as Director of Asset Management at White Oak Partners, managing multifamily properties of $2-$4 billion in AUM nationwide and leading the firm’s value-add initiatives, business planning, and investor reporting. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Miller-Valentine Group, where he oversaw financial operations and asset management for a portfolio of more than 12,000 units, including market rate and affordable housing communities under LIHTC and HUD programs.
